The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has commenced the registration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. The exercise aims to facilitate the development of a comprehensive database of MSMEs in Nigeria. The SMEDAN register will assign a Unique Identification Number to each MSME.
Registration is open to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises operating in Nigeria, including artisans, traders, tailors, fashion designers, spare part dealers, and similar outfits. This will enable stakeholders in the private and public sectors to provide the necessary support, policies, and programmes tailored for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.
Registration is free of charge.
A business registered with SMEDAN will have a Unique Identification Number (SUIN), access to SMEDAN’s Conditional Grant Scheme up to N50,000 per MSME, and priority funding from the public and private sectors and financial institutions. It will also qualify for support from international donor agencies, empowerment programmes and entrepreneurship training, business insurance, and other opportunities.
